Bukit Lawang: Two-Day, One-Night Jungle Trek

Want to discover the secrets the jungle hides at night? Join us for a moderate two-day, one-night jungle trek where you’ll sleep in the jungle and encounter animals that are active after dark. The adventure concludes with a ride down the river on traditional rafts back to Bukit Lawang.

For whom this two-day, one-night jungle trek is suitable

When is this trek right for you, and when should you consider another one?

  • The trek is suitable for anyone who wants to explore the jungle’s beauty both day and night, is prepared for a longer walk, and is comfortable sleeping in the jungle. We provide all necessary equipment for your overnight stay, but please note that you will be in the wild, not in a hotel, which may involve some discomfort.
  • If you prefer not to spend the night in the jungle, consider our day or half-day trek
  • For those seeking an in-depth exploration and a real adventure, we offer three-day, four-day, and even five-day jungle treks.

Minimum and maximum number of participants per trek:

  • Minumum: 2 person
  • Maximum: 8 person

Note: If you are a solo traveler and prefer not to pay for an additional person, we can assign you to another group upon request.

Two-day, One-Night Jungle Trek Description

What awaits you during the trek:

First day
  • Pick-up at your guesthouse at 9:00 AM.
  • Approximately 40-minute walk to Gunung Leuser National Park.
  • Observation of orangutans and other wildlife, with explanations of local trees and plants.
  • Short stop for fruit refreshments.
  • Continue walking deeper into the jungle.
  • Around 1:00 PM, stop for a local lunch in the jungle.
  • Another 2-3 hours of jungle walking and wildlife observation.
  • Around 3:30 PM, arrive at the campsite. Here, you can swim, relax, enjoy tea or coffee, and have a small snack. Meanwhile, the guides will prepare the campsite and cook a local dinner such as curry and rice.
  • After dinner, you can continue to relax, play games, or chat with your guide. Then, drift off to sleep to the soothing sounds of the jungle.
Second day
  • Local breakfast.
  • 3-4 hour jungle trek with stops for fruit snacks and wildlife sightings, including orangutans, forest turtles, white gibbons, and more.
  • Around 1:00 PM, stop for a local lunch in the jungle.
  • After lunch, around 2:00-3:00 PM, board rafts to float back down the river to Bukit Lawang.

How much does the trek cost, and what are the payment and cancellation policies?

PAYMENT TERMS

  • Deposit: 30% of the total price by one of the payment methods listed below.
  • Balance: Before the start of the trek in cash or one of the payment methods listed below.

 

POSSIBLE PAYMENT METHODS

  • Transfer to Indonesian bank account: We only use SWIFT, not IBAN, but if you have Revolut, the transfer is possible.
  • Card: We use Stripe to enable secure payment via link. Neither we nor anyone else can see your payment card details. A regular card, Apple Pay or Google Pay can be used for payment.
  • Revolut: Payment between Revolut accounts or from Revolut to our Indonesian bank account.
  • PayPal: A 3% transaction fee will be added to PayPal payments. The other payment methods mentioned above are free.

 

CANCELLATION CONDITIONS

  • 10 or more days before the trek: Full refund of the deposit.
  • 3 to 10 days before the trek: 50% refund of the deposit.
  • 0 to 2 days before the trek: Deposit forfeited.
  • By trek operator: Full refund of the deposit.

 

Note: For serious reasons for cancellation, such as an accident, you will receive a full refund upon presenting the relevant receipts, regardless of when you cancel.
